Description

  • Interlocking Fibres: Specifically engineered #5 grade fibres that knit together to stay in place on steep slopes.

  • Erosion Resistant: High-stability blend that withstands heavy rain and high-wind coastal environments.

  • Superior Moisture Retention: Acts as a natural insulator to keep soil cool and hydrated during hot New Zealand summers.

  • Natural Weed Barrier:  Provides a dense, dark decorative finish that naturally suppresses competitive weed growth.

Our Premium Mulch is the professional landscaper’s secret to managing challenging terrain. Unlike standard wood chips, our #5 blend features interlocking natural fibres designed to anchor themselves to the ground, making it the best mulch for slopes and wind-prone areas. This high-performance garden mulch provides a clean, dark aesthetic that enhances curb appeal while working hard to regulate soil temperature and significantly reduce the need for watering across your ornamental borders and sheltered garden beds.

Available for Pickup or Delivery in Tauranga & Papamoa: Gardenscape delivers premium, long-lasting mulch to residential properties and commercial sites across Tauranga, Papamoa, and the wider Bay of Plenty region.

Application

To get the best results from your Premium Mulch, follow these professional tips:

  • Soil Preparation: For new garden beds, we recommend installing a high-nutrient base of Premium Garden Mix before applying your mulch layer.
  • Spreading: Apply at a depth of 100mm. This thickness is essential for the fibres to interlock effectively and provide total soil coverage.
  • Plant Health: Always pull mulch away (approx. 50mm) from the direct base of plant stems. This prevents “collar rot” and allows the plant to breathe as the mulch naturally breaks down.
  • Slope Tip: When applying to steep banks, lightly water the mulch after spreading to help the fibres begin the interlocking process immediately.
