LANDSCAPE DESIGN

CUSTOM DESIGNS TO FULFIL YOUR LANDSCAPE DREAMS

Sandra Goudie- Landscape Designer and owner of Gardenscape Papamoa.

I have been designing landscapes for over ten years and have experience across a wide range of projects.  I am passionate about gardens and landscaping, and get great pleasure from working with clients to create outdoor spaces that work them.  My hands on, collaborative approach is the back-bone of my design philosophy, incorporating your personal vision, wants and needs.

Whether you’re after idea’s for a small corner of your property, a planting plan to refresh your garden, or a full blown landscape plan, I can cater to your needs with a package to suit that will make your vision a reality.  Plant selection, suitability and sourcing is a specialty of mine that will ensure you have a garden design that has the right plants in the right place.

THE PROCESS

Design Brief to Draft Concept

Your vision combined with our expertise

Our first meeting is an opportunity to get to know each other and discuss what you want to achieve.  I will ask lots of questions to ensure I have good understanding of your vision – pictures, photo’s and colour ideas are a great starting point. If you have no idea’s that okay too.  From this meeting I will formulate the design brief and determine what design package is needed.  More on this later…..

From here, we draw up a draft concept showing hardscape (paths, patios, fencing etc) and softscape (plants, mulch etc) zones, key elements and features including materials and products, plant themes and colour pallettes.  This will be presented in ‘birdseye’ view along with some 3D drawings of key areas.  Alterations can be made to the draft at this stage before producing final plans.

DRAFT TO FINAL PLAN

 Ideas – Vision – Collaboration – Complete

Once the draft concept has been approved, the final plans are prepared and presented.

Final plans will include drawings and information that have been specified in the design package and may include:

  • Hardscape, Planting and Lighting Plans
  • Schedule lists of products, plants and materials
  • 3D perspective drawings of key areas
  • Master Plan – includes all of the above
  • Construction drawings – on request (excluding council permit drawings)

Rural Mediterranean Landscape

This client wanted to rejuvenate outdated planting and add hard surfaces to define and connect the outdoor spaces.  The mediterranean style home was the backbone of the new design where we added topiary, clipped hedges and columnar conifers.

Custom planters

Raised garden beds can be used in all aspects of landscape design.  Whether custom designed and made, or off the shelf, they add dimension, scale and decorative elements to your outdoor space.

Karapiro Designer Home

The client brief for this new build in Karapiro was a Japanese themed garden.  Their black on black colour pallette was complimented with vibrant Japanese Maples, dwarf bamboo, and Kaizuka topiary.  Hard surfaces included exposed aggregate concrete and poured concrete steppers with stone surround.  An expansive covered deck with built in fire created a sheltered outdoor living space with pathways connecting all zones around the property – which means you can wear your slippers outside year round!

Mt Maunganui Concept Plan

Renovating a home almost always requires an update in landscaping – this property in Mt Maunganui was a classic example of updating the exterior to match the interior.  These clients with young children required good outdoor entertaining and a dedicated play space, plus a work from home outbuilding that was easily accessible from the house.  Retaining existing established tree’s was important to them and we worked these in to the plan using them as the backbone of the childrens play area.

Hamilton Renovation

From front to back, this renovation was a 100% refresh.  The landscape with established tree’s was reconfigured  with a new driveway, expansive deck and dedicated firepit zone to suit the clients desire to be outdoors year round.  New pathways around the house meant access to all outdoor zones was achieved and each zone could be fully utilised.

Rural Tamahere Concept

A new build in rural Tamahere was the opportunity for these clients to get perimeter tree’s and hedging underway before the construction began.  This gave them a headstart on getting some maturity to their planting before the home was built.  Extensive native planting on bank area’s was important to the clients to provide an easy care buffer zone, with a more decorative planting around the house.  Planning ahead of a build on this size property is a good way to get established tree’s going before construction begins.
